I also say this as a non-Black WoC trying to situate her own blindspots. I get there's room for disagreement, but judging by the threads and upvote/downvote ratios I've been seeing, the trend is swinging overwhelmingly towards 'Hamilton critics are morons who don't know what they're talking about.' I say this as someone who's listened to the soundtrack a hundred times, who once camped out for nearly 24 hours to grab tickets, who was (and is) deeply inspired by the show, and loves each cast member very much. It seems fairly tone-deaf for musical theater fans, at a time when statutes of slaveowners are being toppled in the streets, to basically brush off most political criticisms against the show. I've been very uncomfortable with the Hamilton discourse on here as of late. She allegedly hated Hamilton so much that she gave money to a Black playwright, Ishmael Reed, to stage a play of the above title.
